I went along to the game on Saturday thinking that we would win 2 – 0 in what would be a tough game. Well I was half right it was a tough game with Celtic players being kicked all over the park.

This was always going to be a big test for us with our two top players from last season missing but apart from some dodgy defending at times the team came through with flying colours and thumped in five goals. Continue reading »

The injury to Izzy has handed big Charlie Mulgrew the chance to show us what he has as a left back.

Charlie was one of our unsung signings from last season. It's fair to say that most fans were not to impressed when Neil Lennon brought Charlie back to Celtic for a second time. He played a few games at left back early last season but never looked too convincing except for one SPL game at Celtic park when he played really well but pulled up with a hamstring injury and had to go off. But it’s harder to see the truth.

So we’ve had another day of the Laptop Loyal deflecting the truth about RFC’S tax affairs even although Phil Mac told us all that the Sheriff’s officers were due at Ibrox a few days ago. He not only told us but he told certain representatives of the laptop loyal. However as usual they chose to forget. Maybe I’m being harsh so I’ll say their Editors forgot.

This really doesn’t matter because at the end of the day the only thing that should concern us is the progress of Celtic FC.

The truth of the matter is that as much as the Laptop Loyal are giving Craig Whyte an easy ride they are also giving the Celtic board an equally easy ride.

Twitter is a great piece of social media for promoting your site however you really need the spare time to keep the updates going. Fortunately enough TCN has plenty of followers who tweet our content therefor this has allowed me to have a break from twitter and concentrate on working for a living :) .

If you see any tweets from a user claiming to be TCN ignore them as for the next few months we will not be active on Twitter.

Thanks for your support

Another occasion that makes you proud to be a Celt.

What a brilliant night ! A massive crowd with a party atmosphere and the return of some Celtic greats.

John Kennedy's testimonial had been postponed a couple of times but it was certainly worth the wait. The big man kindly donated his testimonial money to Oxfam which say's a lot about the kind of person he is. The charity which is raising awareness and money for the awful famine unfolding in East Africa also benefited from the club and the support. This is what Celtic is all about. Continue reading »

Another Archive article. This is the blog which put the idea out to the Celtic online community for a hub of independent Celtic fans sites.

The Future development of the Cyber Tim’s Community?

Organising and Taking on the Scottish Establishment

Tonight I have the pleasure of having a chat with Housey on the fantastic Over and Over Celtic Pod Cast. Putting nerves aside I’m really looking forward to speaking to him and throwing out some ideas to the Cyber Tim’s online community on how we move forward and tackle head on the biased Scottish Media and the Establishment in Scotland in general.

We Celtic fans are very fortunate when it comes to new media. There is an amazing amount of Celtic fans forums, blogs and pod casts out there on the net. I honestly think we are second to none in this respect.

All these communities have a valid place and reason to exist because the Celtic family is so large and represents so many different people from all walks of life. My own community is one of the new kids on the block only starting back in December 2010. The reason our community was started was that Harry and I felt we would like to start up a forum which would serve the older Celtic fans. Being relatively old codgers we prefer to concentrate our efforts on discussing Celtic rather than gaming, the latest films etc. So on that basis it’s clear to see that we need all types of Celtic sites.

One of the greatest things to come out of all these communities is the important contribution each one makes to getting Celtic fans views out into the web media however my thoughts are that we can organise ourselves a bit better and in turn make a greater impact on counter acting the Laptop Loyal biased spin and pro Rangers agenda.

It’s not only the Scottish media we need to take to task we also need to stand up to any organisation or institution in Scotland who deny our club fair and equal treatment. Also it is just as important that we speak with one clear voice when we are not happy with decisions that our own board make for example the joint sponsorship agreement with Tennents which many fans have a problem with on many different levels.

So finally I get around to the suggestions I’d like to throw out to the Cyber Tim’s community on how we can form closer ties for the benefit of us all and Celtic Football club in general.

I would like everyone to consider the following as basic points for discussion;

The formation of a Celtic fans online news hub/portal  which:

  • gathers and displays news feed from all Celtic online communities
  • All feeds will directly link back to their original sites and will also be available to be forwarded on through many social media bookmark sites
  • Provides a central directory of Celtic fans sites
  • A what’s on guide for fans podcasts
  • Provides fans with help and information on using new social media to get the Celtic message out on to the web through apps and bookmark sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Reddit, WordPress, etc
  • Provides all  fans with a directory of email addresses for Club officials, Media journalists, SFA & SPL officials, UEFA and FIFA as well as MP’s and MSP’S to make it easier for individual fans and groups to raise concerns relating to media bias ,racism and sectarianism.
  • Helps organise fan protests for maximum impact.
  • The inclusion of a message board to help focus all suggestions and campaigns.
  • Match reports by fans who own the pictures and videos not media companies.

No one group or community would “own” this portal it would be purely a non profit co-operative of interested parties.

If anyone doubts that we should try and move to this type of resource then just have a look at the negative press Celtic received following Wednesday night’s game. Our club was dragged through the mud by the Laptop Loyal to deflect the blame for indiscipline and shameful behaviour away from the culprits. This is why I believe we should at least look at the options new media offers us.

A central hub/portal would allow us to get our message across to the right people in a more effective manner. Guy’s like Phil  Mac Giolla Bhain have shown what can be achieved using new social media and a bit of I.T. savvy in getting their message out into the mainstream media so I feel the Celtic fans should follow this example.

There are plenty of Web developers like myself and others who have top class media and marketing skills out there who are passionate Celtic fans. I have already raised this issue with some of them and the general feeling is we should and could do something like this.

However at the end of the day it’s down to all the online Celtic communities to decide the way forward. This can only work with the backing of the vast majority of Celtic fans communities or the whole project just ends up being just another Celtic site competing with others for a share of the media market.

Thanks for reading this and I look forward to seeing if there is a genuine appetite for this. If anyone wants to contact me send an email to g40celtic@gmail.com.

Please see the image below which tries to explain the idea.

He’s got a bigger brass neck than Judas Iscariot

I’ll tackle each highlighted text in turn.Firstly let me apologise for the poor quality of the picture but I have tried to highlight the most damming nonsense that came from the mouth of someone who used to be happy lifting a wage from Celtic and affection from our support.

1. An unfounded allegation about Celtic fans indulging “synchronised coughing”. If your going to make an allegation the worst person to quote from is Leckie. As for Neil not turning up for the minutes silence does Burley have any proof that it was a deliberate snub ? No he does not  so he should keep his mouth shut.

2.We hit some soft targets? I would not call a lying referee a bigoted and lying head of referees and a useless head of the SFA soft targets. They were all guilty of corruption to one degree or another therefore they were legitimate targets. Can I also point out to the ignorant Burley that Celtic FC had nothing to do with the removal of Dallas it was in fact the RC Church who had every right to pursue this sectarian bigot.

3. How dare he slander Billy McNeill. The truth is McNeil was telling the truth with evidence he had gained over many years of playing for Celtic.

4.Why did Paul McBride QC make you and your kind feel queasy? Was it because like McNeill he stood up and told the truth or was it because he brought the corrupt SFA to book and publicly humiliated them. Well seen the attempt on his life did not make you feel queasy if this interview you have given is anything to go by.

5 Now we get to the most disgusting part of you venomous interview Neil Lennon and big bad Celtic. Our manager done nothing that most other managers done. He stood up for his players and his club. Why and for what reason should Neil have been “reigned in” ? Did I miss the part where he assaulted another manager or official like Old Broon or a list of your Rangers team?

6. Finally you ask how we got to this situation with Neil. Well I’ll give you a wee hint . Alot of it was down to you and your media cronies who make statements like “Instead Lennon became a loose cannon and I can see why he courted as much controversy” That’s your exact words from you diatribe which along with other members of the gutter press has helped build a campaign of HATE against our manager.

Mr Burley you should be totally ashamed of yourself and I’m sure a vast ammount of the Celtic support would agree with me when I tell you that you are NOT WELCOME AT CELTIC PARK.

I hope the club pass your comments on to Paul McBride QC and ask you to defend your comments and provide proof of your accusations in a court of law.

Emilio out for half the season.

The bhoys picked up a good three points yesterday at Pittodrie against an Aberdeen side playing anti football a common tactic used by their manager. Although some in our team had an off day the team as a whole never gave up and kept pushing for a goal.

The main downside to the match was the loss of Emilio who has fractured his right ankle. The club have now confirmed that he will be out for four to six months basically depriving us of his talent for half a season.

I have every confidence big Charlie can do a great job at left back but it will be in Europe that we will miss Emilio the most. His pace and engine will be a big miss against FC Sion who seem to be a very competent team.

As I said Mulgrew will do a good job for us and if he gets injured Mark Wilson or even Joe Ledley can cover the left back position however I’m not a big fan of moving players out of their natural positions to cover a role like left back. With any luck Charlie will remain injury free and see us through till Emilio returns.

On beyond the waves yesterday Graham and the guys were debating whether Neil Lennon should draft in a replacement for Izzy. The consensus was that he should not. There is a case for the opposite.

We could bring in a natural left back on a temp contract to cover Charlie over the next 6 months. This would be a reasonably cheaper option than buying someone in on a long contract.

We wish Izzy all the best and hope he has a trouble free recovery and wee look forward to having a fresh player back for the title run in.

Please vote in our latest non scientific poll on whether you think we should bring in a left back.

Hail, Hail and happy Monday.

Is the proposed legislation needed ?

The proposed Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Bill has caused great concerns to be raised by not only Celtic fans but fans of many clubs.

The Scottish Government and others are adamant that they need to bring in these laws to combat sectarianism, bigotry and online hate campaigns. However it is felt by many that we already have the laws in place to deal with these crimes already. Continue reading »
